TONGUE RING & SHANK A LANK

These both videos are based on the sole idea of a sort of bluescreen background & the groups just hanging around posing and dancing their best in front of it. Its a classic risky move to let a music video stand solely on those premises. Thank god we've moved to more smart narratives and un-0rthodox takes on the visual representation of music, but in both cases here, they succeed. 
Costumes and clothes typic for the time period being (Tongue Ring from year 2000, and Shank A Lank from 1992), combined with the "present" sound of the genre. In the second case, with a complete irregular cutting between the camera angles, similiar to Lars Von Trier's conceptual randomness of shots in "Direktøren for det hele".
Three 6 Mafia's video obviously has a more stylish flair to it. I had no idea, or forgot, that todays popular Juicy J dressed like this (red leather baggy jackets) 12 years ago.
Let them both represent the more forgotten, but nevertheless fascinating tracks from the last 20 years of rapmusic's many shapes and costumes. And where are the free cheap looking-multi-effect-packs today, when you need them the most, among OS X one-click sleek clouds and FCP readymades?

As perhaps Scandinavias biggest French Montana fan, I check everything he does, and especially the odd ones with the kind of underground cameo role he has gotten lately. This can only happen in rap. And in remixing. 
Appreciate when French Montana attempts to sing. Its like a drunken slur from your friend at the Vietnamese karaoke bar. Doesn´t matter if it hit the pitch, the will is there. Okey Rick Ross released his mixtape "Rich Forever" and all that and Drake joins in to keep his street cred with black sports clothes in the video, but I love gangsta RnB more than anything else, so, what. It has a budget mostly burnt on helicopter shots.
